DBS New Technical Publication: Ballast Water Management Convention

DBS has released today a new publication concerning the implementation of the Ballast Water Management (BWM) Convention.  With the Convention close to enter into force it is time to start the implementation for survey and certification.

The publication includes background information about the issue of ballast water, the BWM Convention and Guidelines, the criteria for entry into force and applicability.  In addition the publication includes information on the ballast water management methods and standards as well as BWM systems and DBS requirements for the installation of the systems on board ships.

 

The requirements for survey and certification are outlined (i.e. ships greater than 400 GT) along with the requirements for the BWM Plan and Record Book.

 

Lastly, Dromon Survey Department has prepared a Compliance Matrix that includes all necessary steps to be followed ensuring on-time compliance and certification.
