DromonClass 2020 snapshot

This article intends to highlight Dromon Bureau of Shipping (DromonClass) milestones that occurred within 2020. Since our establishment in 2003, the Organization shows steady growth and provides quality solutions in both Classification and Environmental Services.

Authorization by four additional Flag Administrations

In 2020, below listed Flag Administrations have authorized DromonClass as a Classification Society, Recognized Organization (RO) and Recognized Security Organization (RSO) to perform class and statutory certification services on their behalf. These are:

• Mongolia;
• Palau;
• Bolivia; and
• Libya.

Authorization by USCG

In 2020, DromonClass has been recognized by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) to act as a Classification Society in the United States of America.

The Coast Guard Classification Society Recognition was obtained after the evaluation of our Organization and it allows any vessel classed by Dromon Bureau of Shipping to call a United States port, carry out surveys, audits, repairs and occasional attendances.

DromonClass issues e-Certificates

Any DromonClass e-Certificate issued as of April 13, 2020, can be verified through: https://verify.dromon.com.

The platform fully complies with the IMO Guidelines for the issuance of electronic certificates (FAL.5/Circ.39/Rev.2), having the following features:

1. validity and consistency with the format and content required by the relevant international convention or instrument, as applicable;
2. protected from edits, modifications or revisions;
3. a unique tracking number used for verification; and
4. a printable and visible symbol that confirms the source of issuance.

The issued electronic certificates can be verified online, therefore Ship Owners, flag Administrations and Port State Control Authorities  have a tool to verify any certificate issued by DromonClass.

DromonClass successfully transits to ISO 45001

The Organization has successfully transited from OHSAS 18001:2007 Health & Safety Management System to ISO 45001:2018. ISO 45001 consists of a highly developed framework designed specifically to increase safety, reduce workplace risks & to enhance health & wellbeing.

Being one of the industry’s first to get certified under this standard – especially during the COVID-19 pandemic – demonstrates our non-stop dedication and continuing commitment to deliver exceptional customer service and minimize any risks for the safety of all our field Surveyors are mostly exposed to as well as employees and associates of the Organization.

2021 Challenges Ahead

A strategic programme has been developed for 2021. DromonClass continues to develop new features and services to assist its Colleagues, Associates, Clients and Fleet. As a modern Classification Society, we are looking forward to the challenges ahead and how we can further serve the community.
