First IMO DCS Reporting period finalized
02 June 2020 | C20027
DromonClass has successfully completed the first reporting period for the IMO Data Collection System.
NOTICE TO
Ship Owners/ Managers/ Operators | Surveyors / Auditors / Verifiers
We are proud to announce the completion of the first reporting period for the IMO Data Collection System and the successful issuance of the applicable Statements of Compliance for our fleet.
From 1 January 2019, each ship of 5,000 gross tonnage and above needed to collect the data specified in Appendix IX of MARPOL Annex VI, according to the methodology included in Part II of the Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP), as adopted by Resolution MEPC.278(70), entered into force on 1 March 2018.
As the first calendar year for the collection of data came to its end, ShipOwners should meet the below deadlines to assure on time compliance with the IMO Data Collection System:
- By 31 March 2020, Companies should have submitted the 2019 data to our Environmental Division for verification.
- By 31 May 2020, ships should have been issued with a Statement of Compliance (SoC) that needs to be kept on board and is valid for the calendar year in which it is issued and for the first five months of the following calendar year.
DromonClass as a Verification Body
Dromon Bureau of Shipping is an accredited Verification Body under ISO 14065 and can provide worldwide services related to Regulation (EU) 2015/757 on the monitoring, reporting and verification of carbon dioxide emissions from maritime transport (known as the EU-MRV Regulation), such as the assessment of the monitoring plans, verification of the emissions reports and issue the require Document of Compliance (DoC) to each ship.
Since both EU MRV and the IMO DCS run in parallel and both have a number of similarities, DromonClass can act as a single Verification Body so the verification process can take place at one verification audit using the same source of data and therefore, reducing the regulatory and administrative burden.
